كشفت تقارير صحفية أن دولة قطر تبقى المرشح الأبرز لاستضافة النسخة المقبلة من كأس العالم للأندية في عام 2029، رغم أن الرئيسة المكسيكية كلوديا شينباوم فتحت الباب مؤخرًا أمام إمكانية تنظيم البطولة في المكسيك، مستفيدة من الزخم الجماهيري الكبير الذي شهدته مباريات كأس العالم 2026 على الأراضي المكسيكية.

Soufiane Rahimi was nearly brought to tears when the 30-year-old's deflected effort found the top corner to give Morocco the lead before Gessime Yassine rounded off the scoring.

But by finishing second to Brazil on goal difference, Morocco will head to Monterrey for a likely meeting against the Netherlands or Japan in the last 32 on Monday.

Despite bowing out without a point, Haiti's performances at a first World Cup since 1974 have done a nation gripped by poverty proud.

Saibari stroked home his third goal of the tournament with a cool finish from Hakimi's low cross.

With Brazil cruising to victory over Scotland in Miami, Morocco knew only a comprehensive victory would secure them top spot in Group C.

Ouahbi began turning his attention to the last 32 as Bayern Munich-bound Saibari and Real Madrid's Diaz were replaced with over 20 minutes remaining.

But two of his substitutes came on to win the game for Morocco.

Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush, with the Egyptian attacker facing uncertainty over his future after a limited season at the Etihad, according to reports.

Italian journalist Nicolò Schira reported that Tottenham are considering a move for Marmoush and could make an attempt in the coming days. He said Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is an admirer of the player.

Marmoush could leave Manchester City to seek more playing time.

The 27-year-old joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 on a contract running until 2029. The deal was worth €75 million, with a further €5 million in possible add-ons.

Marmoush made 21 Premier League appearances for City in the 2025-26 season. His total Premier League record with City stands at 37 appearances, 10 goals, and three assists since joining the club.

Marmoush is currently with Egypt at the World Cup, which may delay any decision over his future. The forward is expected to remain focused on the tournament while Egypt attempt to secure a place in the knockout stage.
