Boks call up lock replacement
Salmaan Moerat has been released from the Springbok camp due to injury and replaced by a Stormers teammate. cricket-ipl.in
Ruben van Heerden, a central figure in the Stormers pack in this season’s Vodacom URC, will join the team in Johannesburg on Wednesday evening.
The world champions are preparing for their season opener against the Barbarians in Gqeberha next Saturday. The Boks’ match (3pm) will be preceded by a clash between South Africa A and Zimbabwe (12pm).
Van Heerden earned his 50th cap for the Stormers this season, while he also represented the Bulls, Sharks and Exeter Chiefs earlier in his career.

Meanwhile, Sharks loose forward Phepsi Buthelezi and Bordeaux prop Carlü Sadie, who were called up to the squad on Monday, have already reported for duty.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus and assistant coach Mzwandile Stick, who will steer the SA A team, will name their match 23s next week.

WATCH – McCarthy’s first words after leaving Chiefs
“Let’s get to work,” said Aiden McCarthy in a video posted by Azerbaijan side Sabah FC announcing his signing from Kaizer Chiefs.

Sabah confirmed that McCarthy has joined in a three-year deal with an additional option to extend by one year.
Kaizer Chiefs, meanwhile, also announced that McCarthy has left the club to join Sabah.

“We can confirm that we have agreed to release Aden after being approached by Sabah FK, we are proud that he will compete in the qualifying round of next season’s UEFA Champions League,” Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr told the club’s official website.
“We know Aden will fly the Amakhosi flag high in Europe, and we are excited to see him grow on the world stage.”
The 22 year-old McCarthy made 31 appearances for Chiefs this season in all competitions, scoring two goals. He was used at both left back and centre back by Amakhosi.
Sabah won the 2025/26 Azerbaijan Premier League and will play in the qualifying rounds for the 2026/27 Uefa Champions League.
The draw for the first qualifying round will take place on June 16 with the qualifiers set to kick off on July 7.

Les Bleus sont attendus vers 20h, heure française, sur le sol américain. Les Tricolores font partie du groupe I avec le Sénégal, la Norvège et l’Irak et joueront dans six jours contre la nation africaine au MetLife Stadium d’East Rutherford dans le New Jersey.
