In a sincerely written Instagram post, Jean expressed his utmost gratitude to Munster and reflected on the support he received upon his arrival.

JEAN KLEYN LEAVES MUNSTER AFTER A TEN-YEAR RUN

The year was 2016, when Rassie Erasmus, newly appointed at Munster, was looking for a “tighthead lock” to complete his team. Jean heeded the call, and the rest is history.

In an Instagram post, Jean mentioned that Munster was more than a club to him; it was like family, contributing to his personal and professional growth.

“After ten unforgettable years of wearing the number 4, the time has come for me to say goodbye,” he began.

“Munster has been so much more than a club to me — it has been a family, a home, and a place where I’ve grown both on and off the field,” he added.

“As a club, we’ve experienced incredible highs, painful lows, unforgettable victories, difficult defeats, and memories that I won’t ever forget,” he wrote.

Regarding his teammates, coaching staff, and supporters, he wrote:

“I’m grateful for every teammate, coach, staff member, and supporter who has been part of this journey and backed me all the way.”

In an interview with Sporting Limerick almost a decade ago, the journalist asked Jean about his new team and teammates at Munster, to which he said:

“It’s good to be here, and it’s good to experience the environment. It’s really intense, but it’s fantastic,” he said.

“The lads have been very welcoming to me, and it’s been a very easy transition for me to make,” he added.

A BIT ABOUT JEAN KLEYN’S PERSONAL LIFE

Not much is known about J.K, as he is lovingly called, since he leads a fairly private life. He was born and bred in Johannesburg and has siblings named Johann, Matthew, and Rachel.

Originally, Jean had set out to pursue engineering studies at Stellenbosch University, but as fate would have it, his rugby career soon took off due to his commitment to the sport.

His parents, Andri Tucker and Johan Kleyn, are both alive. However, even after their split, they remain supportive of their famous son.

Jean is married to the beautiful Aisling Kleyn, and they have two children, with the latest addition being their baby girl, Elsje-Mae Kleyn.
